Looking up a security's profile and rating

The Profile and rating tab provides statistical and rating information for individual securities. Morningstar rates each security on a 5 star rating system.

To view a security's profile and rating information:
  1. In the main toolbar, click News and insight



  2. In the symbol lookup field, enter the symbol of the security. 
  3. Click Profile and rating
The profile section includes the following information:

Profile 
Sector  The part of the economy the security belongs to. 
Industry  The primary business activity that the security engages with. 
Financials/valuation 
Market cap  The value of all outstanding shares of the security multiplied by the current market price. 
Morningstar's take 
Fair value  The assessed value of one share of the security. 
Uncertainty  A classification of the fair value estimate. Values range from low, medium, high, very high, and extreme. 
Consider buy  The price below which Morningstar analysts think investors should consider purchasing a stock, and is equivalent to the price at which it would earn a 5-star rating. 
Consider sell  The price above which Morningstar analysts think investors should consider selling a stock, and is equivalent to the price at which it would earn a 1-star rating. 
Current Morningstar rating  The current rating by Morningstar. 
Previous Morningstar rating  The previous rating by Morningstar. 
Analyst  The name of the analyst who compiled the profile of the security.
