Creating custom hotkeys

Hotkeys allow you to quickly perform actions such as a buy at bid or sell at ask. All hotkey combinations can be comprised of the following:

  • Up to two modifier keys (Ctrl and Alt) +  one alpha key (A, B, C, etc.)

    or

  • One F-key (excluding F1

    or

  • One modifier key (Ctrl or Alt) + one F-Key (F1, F2, F3, etc.)
If modifier and alpha keys or function keys are used in combination, they should be ordered in the following sequence:

Ctrl + Alt alpha key (A, B, C, etc.) or F-Key (F1, F2, F3, etc.)

Examples:

  • Ctrl+Alt+A
  • Ctrl+Alt+F1
  • Ctrl+F2
  • Ctrl+B
  • Alt+F3
  • Alt+W
Note: hotkeys cannot be a combination of two alpha keys (e.g. C + A), or two modifier keys (e.g. Ctrl+Alt). However, you can now override standard hotkey shortcuts including Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+X, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+A, and Alt+F4, and turn them into trading functions.
To create your own custom hotkeys in IQ Edge:

  1. In the main window, click File > User preferences. Then click the Hotkeys tab.

  2. For each control action, click the key combination you want to change in the right column until the cursor appears. Then type the key or key combination you want to use.

  3. Repeat this process for every control action for which you want to create a custom hotkey.
