Stock and option quotes

Individual, real-time level 1 snap quotes are available for Canadian symbols, OTC markets, and U.S. exchanges, regardless of your market data package. By default, all clients will also have access to quotes for U.S. and Canadian securities that are 15-minute delayed, unless you have subscribed to the enhanced streaming, or one of the advanced data packages. To learn more about market data packages, please visit myQuestrade.

In this section, you'll learn the differences between level 1 and level 2 data, how to get a stock or option quote, and how to customize the displayed information in your windows.

Stock quotes

The stock quote tab gives you easy access to level 1, level 2 and time and sales information, all in one place.

  1. The level 1 area of the stock quote tab displays the latest quotes and volume of trade, previous closing prices, and number of shares at the bid and ask prices.

  2. If you have subscribed to level 2 data, the level 2 area of the stock quote tab will display in-depth market data for Canadian and U.S. exchanges, allowing you to see the real time market action of a given symbol, its price across different venues and order size.

  3. If you have subscribed to level 2 data, the stock quote tab also presents real-time trade information for Canadian and U.S. securities, allowing you to quickly create an order, monitor a symbol’s performance or add a symbol to your customized watch list from the time and sales area of the stock quote tab.

Option quotes

The option quote tab allows you to access level 1 information, view detailed option quotes, and send orders for single options for the selected underlying symbol - all from the same place.

  • The level 1 area of the option quote tab displays the latest quotes and volume of trades, previous closing prices, and number of shares at the bid and ask prices.

  • The option chains area displays various information depending on the selected strategy, including the strike price, last trade price, change price, bid price, ask price, trade volume, and open interest.

  • The option order entry tab is identical to the stock order entry tab, with the exception of four additional fields: expiration, strike, type and description.
