Comparing symbols

In this section, you'll learn how to add secondary symbols and benchmark indices to a chart. You can add a total of seven additional symbols or benchmark indices to a chart. When you add secondary symbols or benchmarks, a comparison is made between trends of change rather than absolute values like price.

When comparing two or more symbols on a chart, please note the following:

  • The chart’s price axis (Y-axis) automatically changes to a percentage axis 

  • The first data point in the graph for all of the symbols being compared is selected as the anchor point for the comparison

  • When comparing symbols, the closing value of each unit is considered

  • The primary chart can be of any type but the secondary chart is always displayed as a line chart
